Welcome to our Frequently Asked Questions – FAQs – Page
Q: Is a Medical Centre the same as a Hospital ?
A: Yes it is. It offers standard health services as hospitals do and also has good health facilities.
Q: What happens when a patient comes for an admission to your hospital without money?
A: The patient is admitted and given treatment but when patient becomes stable the family members are asked for a deposit. A patient cannot be neglected in our hospital because he/she has no money.
Q: When a patient has received all treatment, is well and discharged but says he/she has no money to pay his/her bill, what do you do?
A: Usually the patient is allowed to stay in his/her bed while waiting for his/her family to pay the bill. If after some days the family is still unable to pay the entire bill, and investigation shows that the family is really poor, the patient is allowed to go home. Some of the patients go home, raise the money and come back to complete the bill. The bills that remain at the end of the year, we record as bad debts and the institution takes care of the debts as its own contribution to the treatment of the poor.
Q: What happens when this hospital is not able to manage a particular health condition?
A: Once our doctors confirm that the case is beyond our scope of management, the patient is immediately referred to a bigger hospital where the specialty for the management of such health condition is available.
Q: Since Holy Family Hospital is a Catholic Institution, do you employ and treat only the Catholics?
A: No, Never! The Missionary Sisters of the Holy Rosary who own and run the hospital are also members of Justice/Peace and advocacy ministries; hence we cannot be involved in discriminating against people of other Religions and denominations. Patients of all Religions are treated and cared for in our hospital.
Equally qualified persons from other Religions and Denominations who apply to work in our hospital are employed based on their knowledge and skills. Already among our 76 members of staff are found various Christian denominations and Muslims.
